SPAC Launches Knowledge Exchange Project to Advance Public Sector Modernization

Amman, Jan. 28 (Petra) – The Service and Public Administration Commission (SPAC) on Tuesday launched a knowledge exchange project in collaboration with the Improved Governance to Support Jordanian Reform Projects (PARtner), a program implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.

Yasser Nsour, Executive Director of Technical and Advisory Support at SPAC, stated that the initiative aims to provide innovative tools for sharing ideas and addressing common challenges across government departments.

This, he added, aligns with the pillars of SPAC’s 2024-2027 strategy, which emphasizes building an integrated system for technical support based on global best practices. The strategy seeks to enhance institutional capabilities in line with Jordan’s economic and administrative modernization goals and the public sector modernization roadmap.

The program’s framework, Nsour noted, was developed by drawing on leading regional and international experiences and engaging experts from academia, the public and private sectors, and civil society. The initiative focuses on forming knowledge groups, organizing events and workshops, and addressing key public sector challenges such as improving government efficiency, increasing flexibility in response to future trends, and enhancing productivity to elevate the quality of government services for citizens.

Nsour highlighted SPAC’s efforts to leverage advanced technology to create interactive platforms and virtual workspaces. These tools will enable government departments to establish knowledge communities, share success stories, and exchange ideas and expertise to tackle both current and emerging challenges.

Sura Khuzai, a technical expert at PARtner, underscored the importance of fostering knowledge communities to support administrative reform efforts. She emphasized that sharing experiences and best practices offers a valuable opportunity to enhance innovation and achieve greater efficiency in public administration.

The event, attended by over 100 employees from various government departments, universities, and institutions, along with experts and evaluators from the King Abdullah II Center for Excellence, featured a detailed presentation on the project’s goals and responsibilities. It also included a review of a comparative study on knowledge exchange communities in the public and private sectors and outlined the next steps for implementing the initiative.
