WFP: Gaza supplies sufficient for two weeks

Amman, Oct. 21 (Petra) – The World Food Program (WFP) said Tuesday that food supplies entering the Gaza Strip are limited and sufficient for only two weeks for around half a million people.

Spokesperson of the WFP Abeer Etefa said that while the volume of supplies entering Gaza is increasing, it remains far below the daily target of 2,000 tons, as only two crossings into the Strip are currently open.

“To be able to get to this scale-up, we have to use every border crossing point right now,” Etefa told a press conference in Geneva, adding that the program has delivered more than 530 trucks of aid since the ceasefire began.

She noted that only the Karam Abu Salem and Kissufim crossings are currently operational, adding that no crossings into the northern Gaza Strip are open, where famine conditions persist.
