Singa, August 24, 2026 (SUNA) — Director-General of the Ministry of Education and Guidance, Salah Adam Abdullah, on Monday met with a delegation from UNICEF in the presence of the directors of primary and intermediate education, as well as the director of adult and nomadic education. During the meeting, Salah praised the role of organizations operating in the state in supporting the education process and reviewed the conditions of schools affected by the war. He called for greater intervention by organizations in training newly recruited teachers and providing psychosocial support to teachers, in addition to continuing efforts to improve the school environment and implement an e-learning project to accommodate the largest possible number of children currently out of school, particularly those between the ages of 6 and 14. He stressed that education is a right for every child and that schooling is continuing. For his part, Frank Abily, UNICEF’s Southern Sector Director, stressed the importance of close coordination to develop a plan ensuring the continuity of the school feeding program in Sinnar State, with the initiative designed to have a community-based character. Meanwhile, UNICEF Sinnar State Director Engineer Khalid Mohamed Musa noted the significant scale of work being carried out by organizations supporting education during this period, pointing out that this success had been achieved through coordination with the Ministry of Education. Earlier, the Sinnar State Government, headed by Acting Wali Magdi Al-Berair, discussed with a UNICEF delegation led by Southern Sector Director Frank Abily the expansion of humanitarian and service interventions and increased support for various service sectors in the state, particularly health, education, and water.BH/BH
