Amman, Jan. 9 (Petra) – The Al Hayat Center (RASED) noted a significant improvement in the quality of parliamentary discussions this year, with MPs presenting new visions and solutions to national economic challenges.

In a report analyzing the speeches and discussions of parliamentarians during the review of the 2025 budget bill, RASED monitoring team found that 54% of the recommendations were of a national nature. This reflects a growing interaction and harmony among parliamentary blocs, leading to a more unified voting behavior.

Key topics in the discussions included poverty, unemployment, education, and health, with an emphasis on comprehensive development. This shift suggests a new phase of parliamentary work characterized by cooperation and effective participation in decision-making, aligning with citizens’ aspirations.

The report revealed that the approval rate of the 2025 budget law reached 67%, with 112 members participating in the discussions across five sessions. This approval rate was the highest compared to the budgets of the last three governments.

The analysis showed that 91% of discussions focused on economic issues, 83% on development and services, and 78% on employment. Other areas of focus included administration and anti-corruption (65%), social issues (56%), energy and water (51%), and foreign affairs (47%). Lesser attention was given to security, politics, human rights, local administration, and media.

Parliamentarians addressed 118 sub-topics and presented 476 recommendations, with national recommendations accounting for 45% and regional ones 46%. National recommendations emphasized the need for major projects to reduce unemployment, create jobs, attract investments, and enhance the tourism sector as a significant contributor to national revenues.
