Ajloun, Jan. 12 (Petra) – Director of Development and Employment Fund (DEF) in Ajloun, Issa Awawdeh, announced the fund provided JD1.3 million in financing last year to support 97 projects and create 164 job opportunities in the northern governorate.
Speaking to Jordan News Agency (Petra) on Sunday, Awawdeh affirmed the fund’s commitment to financing small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to promote self-employment, encourage young people to become self-reliant and improve their living standards.
Murad Momani, head of the fund’s financing department, highlighted that men led 54 percent of the target projects, while 46% were female-led.
The distribution underscores the fund’s dedication to fostering women’s participation in the Kingdom’s labor market and expanding their engagement in “entrepreneurial” ventures, he added.
