Amman, Jan 12 (Petra) — The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office confirmed on Sunday that the death toll from wildfires, which raged through multiple areas of the city, has risen to 16.
The total number of confirmed deaths reached 16, and that the cases were still under investigation, the medical examiner said, quoted by CNN.
However, officials expected the figure to rise as crews, using search dogs, continued to look for bodies and assess damage in devastated neighborhoods.
Fire crews estimated about 200,000 people have been displaced, with evacuation orders still in place, and more than 12,000 homes and structures destroyed, including entire residential neighborhoods, and tens of thousands of homes and businesses were without power.
