Sri Lanka Discuss Ways to Enhance Bilateral Cooperation

3 Aug 2026 (ONA) — The fourth round of political consultations between the
Sultanate of Oman and the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka was held
in Muscat today.

The
Omani side was chaired by Sheikh Khalifa Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign
Ministry for Political Affairs, while the Sri Lankan side was chaired by Aruni
Ranaraja, Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and
Tourism of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

During
the session, the two sides reviewed the course of bilateral relations between
the two countries, and discussed ways to enhance cooperation in areas of common
interest, particularly economic, investment, tourism, and cultural fields. The
two sides also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues
of mutual concern.

Both
sides emphasized the importance of continued consultation and coordination
between the foreign ministries of the two countries, and working to explore new
horizons for partnership in a manner that serves mutual interests, contributes
to enhancing security and stability, and supports cooperation at the regional
and international levels.

The
consultation session was attended by several officials from both sides.
