CDC Leads National Data Initiative

Amman, Jan 14 (Petra) — The Jordan Center For Disease Control (CDC) hosted the first meeting of the National Health Data Governance Committee Monday, bringing together representatives from the health and planning ministries along with public and private sector stakeholders.

Center Director Adel Belbeisi said the meeting represents a significant step toward building a more data-driven health system.

The committee will serve as a strategic platform to guide health data projects and establish unified standards for information sharing between health sectors.

The center has conducted a comprehensive assessment of national surveillance and laboratory systems across all sectors using precise scientific methodology, Belbeisi said.

Mohammad Saleh, director of digital transformation at the Ministry of Health, said the ministry has implemented pioneering projects including its 2023-2025 strategy for integrated health services and a draft national digital health strategy with 10 objectives.

A new supply chain management system using digital tools and AI for inventory management is also under development.

The center’s IT director Fatima Hammad presented key digital health projects, including plans for a national public health data warehouse and integrated surveillance system.

The committee, chaired by the center, is part of the Digital Government Services Program launched in June 2024 that aims to improve citizen services through digital transformation.
