Gazans are facing severe insecurity amid ongoing Israeli hostilities, says OCHA

New York, Jan. 14 (Petra) – The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported Tuesday that Palestinians in Gaza are facing severe insecurity amid ongoing hostilities, emphasizing the need to protect civilians wherever they are.

In a statement, OCHA noted that Israeli occupation authorities continue to obstruct UN efforts to reach people relying on critical humanitarian aid. The statement highlighted that Israel today blocked two attempts to access hospitals in northern Gaza. These missions aimed to evacuate patients from Al-Awda and the Indonesian hospitals, as well as deliver food, water, fuel, and hygiene supplies.

Access to Al-Awda Hospital in Jabalia remains severely restricted due to the Israeli siege on northern Gaza. Al-Awda is currently the only hospital partially operational in the area, but it is experiencing acute shortages of fuel and medical supplies.

Regarding the Indonesian Hospital, OCHA confirmed that it remains non-operational, with critical equipment destroyed and lacking water, electricity, hygiene supplies, and adequate staffing. The UN last managed to deliver limited supplies to the hospital late last month.
