Gaza, Jan. 23 (Petra) – The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip has recovered 120 bodies from the rubble, as well as two injured individuals, who are currently undergoing treatment in local hospitals, bringing the overall death toll to a staggering 47,283 and the number of injured to 111,472.
The Gaza Municipality highlighted the critical shortage of essential services stemming from the destruction of over 80% of its vehicles, including those crucial for waste collection, sewage treatment, and road clearance.
The remaining fleet is aging and lacks adequate maintenance due to a scarcity of spare parts, lubricating oil, and fuel. The municipality urgently appealed to international and local organizations for assistance in restoring essential services and mitigating the escalating health and environmental crisis.
Director General of the Al Awda Health and Community Association in Gaza, Raafat Majdalawi, said that 520 attacks were launched on health facilities, 148 on ambulances, and over a thousand on humanitarian workers, resulting in the tragic loss of 860 healthcare professionals.
The Israeli forces also targeted and severely damaged 36 hospitals, rendering 50% of them inoperable. Furthermore, 5 primary and community healthcare centers affiliated with the Al Awda Association were completely destroyed, while 3 others suffered significant damage.
