Amman, Feb. 6 (Petra) – Customs officials intercepted an attempt to smuggle 700 cartons of cigarettes during anti-smuggling patrols in the northern region.
The vehicle involved was seized, and legal measures were taken in accordance with regulations.
The Jordan Customs, through the Anti-Smuggling Directorate, urged citizens to report any customs violations or smuggling attempts via the toll-free number 105. This initiative aligns with the department’s ongoing efforts to ensure market fairness and combat smuggling in all forms.
Authorities emphasized that smuggled goods undermine the national economy, harm local producers, and evade regulatory oversight, including Jordanian specifications and standards. Additionally, the failure to collect due customs duties constitutes a legal violation.
