Oman’s Inflation in January Rises 1pcMuscat, 22 Feb (ONA) —— The inflation rate in the Sultanate of Oman increased by 1% in January 2025 compared to the same period in 2024 for the base year 2018, according to data from the Consumer Price Index in the Sultanate of Oman issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information.The data indicated an increase in the prices of miscellaneous goods and services groups by 4.4%, health by 3.2%, transportation by 2.8%, food and non-alcoholic beverages by 1%, restaurants and hotels by 0.9%, clothing and footwear by 0.6%, recreation and culture by 0.6%, furnishings, household equipment and household maintenance by 0.4%, and education by 0.1%, while the prices of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels; communications; and tobacco groups remained stable.In the food and non-alcoholic beverages group, the prices of vegetables increased by 6.2%, milk, cheese and eggs by 3.3%, other food products by 1.1%, sugar, jam, honey and sweets by 2.8%, oils and fats by 1.2%. The prices of cereals and bread remained stable, while the prices of fruits decreased by 1.3%, fish and seafood by 0.5%, meat by 0.4% and non-alcoholic beverages by 0.2%.In geographical details, inflation rates varied between governorates by the end of January 2025 compared to the same period of the previous year.Musandam Governorate recorded the highest inflation rate at 1.7%, while South Al Batinah Governorate had the lowest rate at 0.2%.It also rose by 1.5% in A’Dakhiliyah Governorate, 1.4% in South A’Sharqiyah Governorate, and 1.3% in Al Wusta Governorate.In A’Dhahirah Governorate, the inflation rate increased by 1.2%, and by 1.1% in both Muscat and Dhofar Governorates, by 1% in Al Buraimi Governorate, and by 0.8% in North Al Batinah Governorate, by 0.3% in North A’Sharqiyah Governorate.—— Ends/AH
