Speaking on the sidelines of the presentation in Barcelona of the 28th Fez Festival of World Sacred Music program (June 16–24), Marcé told MAP that artistic proximity further enhances the cultural ties between the two nations.
He noted the musical traditions of both countries, such as flamenco and Andalusian music, convey a shared heritage and reflect common roots and a deeply Mediterranean sensibility, noting that the artistic richness of the Fez Festival resonates within Spanish musical culture.
The participation of Spanish singer Miguel Poveda—an iconic figure on the contemporary flamenco scene—in this event of “great artistic depth” exemplifies the vibrant cultural bridge between the two shores of the Mediterranean, he emphasized.
Marcé also noted that the city of Casablanca was the guest of honor at Barcelona’s 2024 festivities—an opportunity that enabled the development of joint artistic projects between Moroccan and Catalan creators.
