Joint Committee Holds Session

April (ONA) —The Joint Omani-Moroccan Committee today held its 7th
session under the co-chairmanship of Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign
Minister and Nasser Bourita, Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, African
Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates.

in his speech
Sayyid Badr underscored the depth of historic and fraternal relations between
the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Morocco. These relations, he affirmed,
are based on trust and mutual respect as a result of the directions of His
Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and King Mohammed VI.

He pointed
out that holding the meeting comes in affirmation of the two sides keenness to
conduct consultations and coordination, as well as expanding cooperation
towards wider horizons especially in economic, investment, trade. Industrial,
tourism and educational fields. Both sides reiterated the importance of utilizing
technological solutions and innovation and empowering the private sector.

On his turn,
Nasser Bourita, Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and
Moroccan Expatriates expressed his appreciation for Oman’s sincere and steadfast
efforts to consolidate peace and stability at the regional and international
levels. He praised Oman’s balanced and proactive foreign policy under the
leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.

The Moroccan
minister emphasized the importance of building on the achievements of previous
sessions of the joint committee and activating signed agreements. He
highlighted that Omani- Moroccan relations represent a model of exemplary
bilateral coordination and cooperation, rooted in historical ties, mutual
respect, and shared visions.

He further
reaffirmed the Kingdom of Morocco’s commitment to expanding cooperation with
the Sultanate of Oman in economic, developmental, and investment fields, as
well as enhancing institutional communication mechanisms and exchanging expertise
to serve mutual interests and fulfill the aspirations of the two nations.

At the
conclusion of the committee’s session, the two sides signed four memorandums of
understanding (MoUs) in the fields of digital transformation, renewable energy,
mutual recognition of maritime certifications, and sports cooperation,
alongside an executive program in the tourism field.

In a joint
statement issued at the conclusion of the session, both nations affirmed their
determination to consolidate bilateral cooperation across various sectors of
shared interest, particularly in economic, investment, trade, educational,
cultural, and logistical domains, paving the way for new horizons in future
partnerships.

The
statement underscored the importance of bolstering Arab solidarity and joint
action, respecting the sovereignty and unity of nations, and rejecting any
interference in internal affairs. Both sides condemned terrorism and extremism
in all forms, refusing to associate these threats with any religion or culture.
They called for enhanced regional and international coordination to combat
terrorism and eradicate its sources.

The
committee’s session was attended by Khalid Salim Bamakhalf, Oman’s Ambassador
to Morocco, Sheikh Faisal Omar Al Marhoon, Head of the Arab Department at the Foreign
Ministry, Tarek Lahssisne, Morocco’s Ambassador to Oman and several officials
from the foreign ministries of both countries.
