New York, May 10 (Petra) – United Nations Secretary-General Ant?nio Guterres on Saturday welcomed the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, describing it as a “positive step” toward ending hostilities and easing tensions.
In a statement issued by his office, Guterres expressed hope that the agreement would contribute to lasting peace and create a conducive environment for addressing broader, long-standing issues between the two countries.
“The United Nations stands ready to support efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability in the region,” the Secretary-General said.
