Amman, May 18 (Petra) –Ministry of Agriculture, in cooperation with Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) and support of Advance Consulting (Fal), implemented a specialized training program for women producers and workers in the rural food processing sector across the Kingdom.

According to a ministry statement on Sunday, the program aims to build the participants’ capacity in the food health and safety fields to obtain the JFDA’s necessary certificates and permits, which would enable beneficiaries to “actively” engage in the ministry-organized permanent agricultural exhibitions.

The first training course within the program, themed: “Food Health and Safety,” was inaugurated at Jordan Cooperative Corporation (JCC) headquarters under the auspices of Minister of Agriculture, Khaled Hneifat.

Implementing 12 training activities nationwide, the initiative saw participation of over 500 participants, including male and female engineers from the Ministry of Agriculture.

The statement said this effort reflects the ministry’s “commitment” to develop the human resources in the rural manufacturing and marketing sector.

Deputizing for Hneifat, JCC Director General Abdul Fattah Shalabi, stated food safety is a pillar of food security, adding that this program is a “true” opportunity to enable participants to apply the “best practices to ensure quality of products offered to consumers.”

Meanwhile, Lamia Dabbas, Fal Regional Director, said the company is “committed” to providing expert and innovative training programs that meet international standards and contribute to develop the Kingdom’s rural food sector.
