Sohar Governorate to Host Literary Forum on 25 October

2026 (ONA) — The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth is organizing the 28th
edition of the Literary Forum in Sohar, Governorate of North Al
Batinah, from 25 to 29 October 2026.
The forum is
accorded great attention by talented people in the cultural community as it
provides a platform for them to showcase their contributions to cultural life.
The forum’s
programme includes a competition in classical Arabic poetry, popular poetry and
short stories. The competition will see the participation of 60 contestants, of
whom 30 will be in the age group of 18 to 34 years and 30 others in the age groups
above 34 years.
The programme
also includes sessions for critical insights into the texts presented in the
competition, in addition to specialized cultural sessions in the fields of
classical poetry, popular poetry and short stories.
The forum, which hosts writers and poets from the Sultanate of Oman and
abroad, also includes competitions in singing, photography, monodrama fine arts.
