Zarqa, May 18 (Petra) – The Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) announced that its inspection teams in the Zarqa branch conducted 2,222 monitoring visits from the beginning of the year until the end of April.
The inspections resulted in the destruction of approximately 220 tons of food and 10,500 litres of juices and beverages deemed unfit for human consumption and not compliant with health standards, the JFDA said in a statement to the Jordan News Agency (Petra).
During the same period, the agency issued warnings to 973 establishments, suspended 180 from operating, and permanently closed 23 others, sealing them with red wax. It also handled 213 citizen complaints submitted through official channels.
The JFDA reaffirmed its commitment to taking firm action against food safety violations, pledging to intensify unannounced inspections in cooperation with the local community to prevent any threats to public health.
