Amman, May 19 (Petra) – The Ministry of Culture on Monday announced a nationwide program of events to mark the country’s 79th Independence Day, with festivities scheduled from Friday through Sunday in the capital and across the governorates.

According to a statement, the celebration will feature a variety of family-friendly activities, including children’s entertainment, face painting, gifts, cultural competitions, and a bazaar showcasing locally made products and handicrafts.

The program also includes national music performances and traditional folkloric shows by local troupes.

Events will take place daily from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

On Sunday, May 25, fireworks displays are planned to begin at 9:30 p.m. near the Sixth Circle Towers. Drone light shows will be held in the Raghdan area at 9:00 p.m. and again at 9:45 p.m.

Minister of Culture Mustafa Rawashdeh emphasized the symbolic importance of Independence Day, calling it “a pivotal moment in Jordan’s history that reflects the sovereignty, values, and cultural heritage of the Kingdom.”

“Independence is a national value we were all raised on,” he said. “It has enabled Jordan’s progress and development under the Hashemite leadership, which has guided the nation’s renaissance and prosperity.”

Rawashdeh added that the ministry seeks to promote the significance of independence among school and university students and the broader public through its publications, events, and ongoing programs.

The ministry said the celebration program highlights national pride in Jordan’s political and democratic achievements as it enters its second centennial.
