Amman, May 19 (Petra) – Foreign ministers from 22 countries, including France, Germany, the UK, Canada, Japan, and Australia, on Monday called on Israel to “fully and immediately allow the entry of humanitarian aid” into Gaza under the supervision of the United Nations and NGOs.

In a joint statement issued by Germany’s Foreign Ministry, the group said the UN and humanitarian organizations “cannot support” the new aid delivery mechanism introduced by Israel for Gaza.

Israeli authorities said on Monday that aid trucks carrying, among other items, infant formula had begun entering the blockaded Palestinian enclave, which has been under siege for more than two months.

Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney warned they would not “stand idly by” in the face of what they described as “appalling actions” by the Israeli government under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The three leaders hinted at “concrete measures” unless Israel halts its military operations and facilitates humanitarian access.

According to AFP, the three leaders said in a joint statement, “We are determined to recognize a Palestinian state as part of a two-state solution and are ready to work with others to achieve this goal,” referencing a UN conference in June aimed at building international consensus toward a two-state framework.

Separately, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro S?nchez called for Israel’s exclusion from international cultural events, such as the Eurovision Song Contest, over its ongoing military campaign in Gaza.

Speaking at a press conference in Madrid, S?nchez said, “We cannot allow double standards, even in culture,” adding, “Just as Russia was excluded after its invasion of Ukraine, Israel should not be allowed to participate either.”
