Bashir, Italian envoy discuss parliamentary cooperation

Amman, May 20 (Petra) –Head of the Lower House of Representatives’ Foreign Affairs Committee, MP Dina Bashir, on Tuesday discussed with Italian Ambassador to Jordan, Luciano Pizzuti, ways to strengthen bilateral relations, mainly at the parliamentary level.

During the meeting, Bashir affirmed the “strong” Jordanian-Italian relations, noting the two countries’ “keenness” to expand joint cooperation in various fields.

The MP also praised the current mutual partnership, particularly in the economic, trade, and investment sectors, calling for benefiting from the Kingdom’s investment climate.

Bashir presented Jordan’s positions, under His Majesty King Abdullah II’s leadership, on regional and international issues, mainly the Palestinian cause.

At the Middle East level, the lawmaker affirmed Jordan’s “firm” support for ending the war on the Gaza Strip and its efforts to deliver humanitarian, relief, and medical aid to the strip’s people.

Meanwhile, the envoy valued the King’s pivotal role in promoting security and stability in the region, commending Jordan’s efforts in supporting the Palestinian people.

Noting the importance of Jordanian-Italian relations, he affirmed the need to continue joint coordination and cooperation on various issues, primarily in humanitarian and political areas.

In this context, he referred to a number of cooperation agreements signed between the two countries.
