Amman, May 21 (Petra) – Director General of the Royal Hashemite Documentation Center (RHDC) Muhannad Mubaidin has been elected First Vice President of the Executive Council of the Arab Regional Branch of the International Council on Archives (ARBICA) during the council’s latest leadership elections.

Abdulla Majed Al Ali, Director of the UAE National Archives and Library, was elected President of the Executive Council, while Fawaz Salameh, Director General of the State of Palestine Archives, was named Second Vice President. Nevine Mahmoud, head of the Egyptian National Library and Archives, was selected as Secretary General.

In a statement issued Wednesday, the RHDC said this election reflects the Center’s years of dedicated efforts to strengthen joint Arab archival cooperation and builds on its membership in the International Council on Archives (ICA).

The RHDC reaffirmed its commitment to advancing its national, Arab, and international role in alignment with its future vision, which embraces rapid development and the evolving role of archives in the digital era.

The Arab Regional Branch of the International Council on Archives (ARBICA), established in 1972, is one of ICA’s regional branches covering Arab countries. Originally headquartered in Baghdad, the branch has rotated among various Arab capitals.

ARBICA aims to foster and strengthen relationships among Arab archival institutions, promote collaboration, enhance access to archival materials, and coordinate efforts to support the development of archives in the Arab world.
