JCI Chief Urges Stronger Strategy to Boost Exports to Europe

Amman, May 21 (Petra) – Chairman of the Jordan Chamber of Industry (JCI), Fathi Jaghbeer, on Wednesday called for closer government collaboration with the chambers of industry to conduct feasibility studies on broader exports of Jordanian products, particularly targeting the German and European markets.

In remarks at the Arab-German Business Forum in Berlin, Jaghbeer highlighted a significant trade imbalance between Jordan and the European Union. In 2024, Jordan imported goods worth JD2.861 billion from the EU, while the Kingdom’s exports to the bloc were only JD427 million.

The disparity persists despite a trade agreement signed between Jordan and the EU, he said, underscoring the need to address hindrances to Jordanian exports.

Jaghbeer highlighted the facilitating role of Jordanian industrial chambers in trade relations through participation in international trade fairs, delegations, and bilateral business meetings with European commercial hubs. These efforts aim to connect manufacturers with European buyers and promote industrial cooperation, he said.

Jaghbeer toured major retail centers in Berlin to assess accessibility of Jordanian products and promote Jordanian goods in European markets.

Jordanian industries, he said, made considerable strides in terms of product quality and competitiveness, gaining a foothold in global markets, including the United States, and are well-positioned to expand further into the European retail market.
