Cairo, May 21 (Petra) — Jordan’s Permanent Representative to the Arab League Amjad Adaileh led the Jordanian delegation at the 20th Senior Officials’ Meeting of the Arab-China Cooperation Forum and the Ninth Session of the Strategic Political Dialogue, hosted by Morocco over two days.
The meetings, organised by the Arab League and the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, brought together representatives from Arab countries and various Chinese ministries involved in the forum.
Discussions focused on the achievements of the forum within the framework of the executive programme for 2024-2026, as well as regional and international issues of mutual concern addressed during the Ninth Session of the Strategic Political Dialogue.
In a speech, Adaileh said Jordan is committed to a strategic partnership with China. He highlighted that this partnership is exemplified through bilateral relations and collective cooperation within the Arab League, serving as a model for international collaboration based on mutual respect and shared interests.
Adaileh reviewed recent developments in Jordanian-Chinese relations, underscoring vital projects in renewable energy, water and water resources management and technical and vocational training for youth, which reflect the two countries’ shared desire for sustainable development.
He pointed out that Jordan’s approach to Arab-Chinese cooperation is rooted in the conviction that challenges can be transformed into opportunities. China is seen as a strategic partner supporting development, with the Belt and Road Initiative providing an ideal framework for expanding this cooperation.
Adaileh stressed the importance of strengthening Arab-Chinese collaboration in key areas such as political coordination to support peaceful resolutions of regional and international crises, promoting sustainable development projects and fostering economic integration in critical sectors.
He reaffirmed the need for comprehensive peaceful solutions to ongoing conflicts, emphasising that the Palestinian cause remains central to regional stability. He underscored that a just resolution based on the two-state solution, supported by international consensus, is vital for ending conflicts, alleviating suffering and reducing extremism.
He praised the mutual desire of Arab and Chinese sides to deepen dialogue, cooperation and partnerships on priority issues, which enhance their shared interests. Adaileh highlighted that the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Arab-China Cooperation Forum reflects the enduring commitment of both sides to this unique partnership.
A set of recommendations was adopted, reflecting consensus on regional and international political issues and aimed at activating cooperation mechanisms in economic, social and cultural fields within the Arab-China Cooperation Forum.
