Amman, May 24 (Petra) – The Jordan Armed Forces on Saturday thwarted an attempt to smuggle narcotics using a drone along the country’s western border, according to an official military source.
The source stated that the Southern Military Zone, in coordination with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, intercepted the drone early Saturday morning as it attempted to cross from west to east.
“Upon detecting and tracking the drone, border guard forces implemented the rules of engagement and successfully downed it within Jordanian territory,” the source said, adding that the seized materials were handed over to the competent authorities.
The source reaffirmed the Jordan Armed Forces’ commitment to leveraging all capabilities to prevent the infiltration of narcotics and safeguard national security.
