Amman, May 26 (Petra) – The Jordan Football Association (JFA) announced on Monday that its ticketing platform recorded over 23 million access attempts in just two days as fans rushed to secure seats for the highly anticipated World Cup qualifier between Jordan and Iraq, scheduled for June 10 at Amman International Stadium.

In a statement, the JFA expressed pride in the enthusiasm shown by Jordanian fans, whose overwhelming interest in the match led to technical delays on the ticketing website. The association apologized for the inconvenience, attributing the slowdown to massive traffic on the platform despite prior preparations, including server upgrades and expanded technical support.

According to the JFA, the platform faced an exceptional and unprecedented surge in traffic, peaking at over 100,000 access attempts per minute and 4.4 million in the first three hours. Around half of the total attempts originated from outside Jordan, with initial data suggesting a possible coordinated cyberattack that hampered normal site performance.

In response, the association implemented emergency updates to the platform, including virtual waiting rooms and a queueing system, to ease server pressure and mitigate the suspected cyberattack in coordination with relevant authorities.

All tickets allocated to Jordanian fans have now sold out. Sales were limited to Jordanian nationals verified through their national ID numbers and birthdates, cross-referenced with the Civil Status and Passports Department, and in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship.

The JFA acknowledged the disappointment of fans unable to secure tickets due to limited stadium capacity and high demand and thanked them for their continued support of the national team, the Nashama, from home.

The association also urged fans to avoid purchasing tickets from unofficial sources to prevent fraud, warning that duplicated or overpriced tickets bought outside the official platform would not grant entry to the stadium.
