Top Spanish media delegation visits Jordan to promote tourism

Amman, May 27 (Petra) – A delegation of leading Spanish media representatives has arrived in Jordan on a visit organized by the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB), aimed at promoting the kingdom as a top-tier global destination and enhancing its presence on the European tourism map. The press tour is taking place from May 26 to 31.

The delegation includes journalists from prominent Spanish media outlets. They began their visit with a meeting with JTB Director General Abdelrazzaq Arabiyat and Deputy Director General Wael Rousan. They also met with Chairman of the Senate’s Tourism and Heritage Committee, Senator Michel Nazzal, and Secretary-General of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, Fadi Balawi, to discuss tourism cooperation with the Spanish market and avenues for cultural exchange between the two countries.

In a statement, Arabiyat emphasized the strategic importance of the Spanish market, noting its growing interest in travel and tourism. “We are committed to enhancing Jordan’s visibility in Spanish media through curated visits like this one, which help create a vivid and authentic image of the Jordanian experience,” he said.

The visit includes tours of key landmarks in Amman such as the Roman Theatre, Downtown, the Jordan Museum, and the Citadel, where the delegation was accompanied by Spanish Ambassador to Jordan Miguel de Lucas Gonz?lez. The visit highlighted the strong Jordanian-Spanish ties.

The group also visited Ajloun Governorate to explore the historic Ajloun Castle and experience the Ajloun cable car. They then traveled to the ancient city of Jerash to walk through its famed archaeological sites before returning to Amman to meet with Minister of Government Communications and official spokesperson Dr. Mohammad Al-Momani.

In the coming days, the delegation will continue its tour with visits to Petra one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and the Red Sea city of Aqaba. Meetings with local officials are planned to showcase the rich tourism offerings of southern Jordan. The experiences and insights gathered will be featured in media reports and articles published across major Spanish platforms.

This initiative is part of the JTB’s broader strategy to position Jordan as a preferred destination for European travelers, offering media representatives an immersive opportunity to relay the country’s historical, cultural, and natural wealth to a global audience.
