FM, Italian Counterpart Discuss Regional De-Escalation, Iran Nuclear Talks

Amman, June 15 (Petra) — Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi held a phone call on Sunday with Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani to discuss efforts to end regional escalation and revive negotiations on the Iranian nuclear issue.

Safadi and Tajani called for concerted international efforts to curb rising tensions in the region, warning that continued escalation risks further conflict and instability.

Safadi underlined the need to maintain focus on ending the Israeli aggression on Gaza, which continues to cause a humanitarian catastrophe. He cautioned against allowing the international community’s attention to shift solely toward managing fallout from Israeli actions targeting Iran, stressing that full de-escalation requires addressing the root causes of all regional tensions.

The conversation also covered bilateral relations, with both ministers reaffirming the strength of the partnership between Jordan and Italy.
