Zarqa, June 15 (Petra) – Hashemite University (HU) has completed the 1st operational phase of the Smart Aquaculture Project by establishing the “Smart Agricultural House” as part of a research project implemented by Prince El Hassan Bin Talal College of Natural Resources and Environment.

Inaugurating the project, the HU’s Vice President, Dr. Khaled Abu-Elteen noted the importance of supporting applied research with environmental and economic impact.

Abu-Elteen also highlighted the project’s role in enhancing students’ skills to work in the smart agriculture fields and achieve food security.

The college’s dean, Dr. Salman Kofhi, underlined its “commitment” to providing an “advanced” research-driven environment that contributes to develop agricultural innovation.

Meanwhile, principal researcher Dr. Fakher Akkour said the project aims to establish an “advanced” infrastructure for smart agriculture research by integrating cutting-edge eco-control systems and modern sensors.

Akkour referred to future plans that aim to establish a research station for forage crops and fish farming within an integrated eco-model.
