Amman, June 17 (Petra) – Minister of Public Works and Housing Maher Abul Samen on Tuesday stressed the need for all projects listed under governorate budgets to be completed by the end of the 2025 fiscal year.
During a meeting with directors of public works directorates across the governorates, held at the ministry’s headquarters, Abul Samen emphasized aligning work plans to ensure timely implementation. He warned that delays could deprive communities of the intended benefits of allocated funding.
According to a ministry statement, the minister underscored the importance of ongoing communication with governorate councils and addressing any obstacles that hinder collaboration. He also highlighted the need to resolve the issue of council debt.
Abul Samen noted that the ministry is working within a strict timeline to ensure full utilization of financial allocations and reaffirmed its commitment to constructive cooperation in serving national interests and facilitating citizen services.
The minister listened to presentations on project statuses across the governorates and reviewed field challenges impacting execution. He instructed ministry staff to provide necessary facilitation and remove administrative and logistical barriers.
The meeting also reviewed the status of 183 projects scheduled for 2025, distributed across the governorates, with a focus on prioritizing agricultural road projects. Updates were also provided on 2024 tenders, their progress rates, financial and technical challenges, halted projects, and disbursed versus remaining funds.
Additionally, the meeting addressed the ministry’s emergency plan for the upcoming winter. Abul Samen instructed directors to continue clearing flood channels and valleys, inspect the operational readiness of equipment, and begin immediate preparations of field teams for the rainy season.
The meeting was attended by Ministry Secretary-General Jamal Qutaishat, along with heads of central departments and directors from the ministry’s 14 regional offices.
