Berlin, June 18 (Petra) — Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Reem Abli-Radovan discussed Wednesday cooperation.

The talks focused on ways to strengthen economic, investment and development cooperation between Jordan and Germany and regional developments and their implications.

Safadi and Abli-Radovan discussed adopting a clear and institutional approach to translate the strong bilateral relations into tangible economic and developmental achievements, including through increased engagement of the private sector.

The two ministers explored opportunities for cooperation in vital sectors such as water, energy and vocational training, and they discussed following up on the outcomes of His Majesty King Abdullah II’s meeting with representatives from government economic institutions, CEOs and German companies to boost cooperation on April 2.

They agreed to work towards activating and facilitating meetings between the private sectors in Jordan and Germany to foster closer economic ties.

Safadi and Abli-Radovan discussed the refugee issue, stressing the need for continued support to host countries and the United Nations organisations involved in assisting refugees.

Safadi praised Germany for supporting Jordan’s economic development and vital projects in the water sector.

He appreciated Germany’s ongoing support for Syrian refugees in Jordan and its assistance in providing essential services to ensure a decent living for them until conditions are suitable for voluntary return.

Safadi thanked Germany for its continued support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
