Cairo, June 23 (Petra) – Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit on Monday strongly condemned a deadly terrorist bombing at the Mar Elias Church in the Syrian capital Damascus.
In a statement, Aboul Gheit expressed the League’s concern over “this new development, targeting civilians in places of worship, and its negative consequencies on Syria’s security and stability.”
The Arab Parliament also issued a statement denouncing the bombing as “a criminal act of cowardice and a blatant attack on the sanctity of places of worship and directly targeting the security and safety of civilians in a flagrant violation of humanitarian principles, religious values, and the international humanitarian law.”
