Amman, June 23 (Petra) – Qatar’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari on Monday denounced Iran’s missile strike on Al Udeid Air Base, calling it a blatant violation of Qatari sovereignty.
In a press conference, Al-Ansari confirmed there were no casualties from the Iranian attack and said Qatari air defenses had successfully intercepted the incoming missiles.
He noted that precautionary measures taken by Qatar helped thwart the “surprise” strike, which he described as contradictory to Qatar’s longstanding position of seeking mediation and peaceful resolution of conflicts in the region.
Al-Ansari emphasized that the only viable path for countries in the region is a return to peaceful means.
