Oman Participates in 4th International
Conference on Financing for Development

Seville, 1 Jul (ONA) — The Sultanate of Oman is taking
part in the 4th International Conference on Financing for
Development, currently being held in Seville, the Kingdom of Spain.
The conference seeks ways to support reform of the international financial structure
and address financing challenges.

Oman’s delegation is led by Sultan Salim Al
Habsi, Minister of Finance. It includes Ahmed Ja’afar Al
Musallami, Governor of the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) and other officials.

The conference explores new approaches to financing
development, as well as innovative financing mechanisms to support efforts for development
in emerging countries, notably amid the growing economic divide between the global North and South.

The conference constitutes an opportunity to reform
financing at all levels. The measures include supporting reform of the international
financial structure and addressing financing challenges that impede investment aimed
to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

On the sidelines of the conference, the participants
endorsed the final draft of a charter, titled
“Seville Commitment”, deemed the first step in expressing
renewed international commitment to reformulate terms of reference and public
policies related to development financing.
