Irbid Industrial Exports Reach $100.5M Last June-ICC

Irbid, July 1 (Petra) – The value of certificates of origin issued by the Irbid Chamber of Industry (ICC) last June stood at $100.5 million, compared to $108.4 million for the same month last year, according to the Chamber’s report released Tuesday.

The report showed 1,147 certificates of origin were issued last June, down from 1,331 in the same period last year.

The textile and leather sector continued to lead export sectors, recording $100.419 million in export value, which is followed by the food and agricultural supplies sector at $2.312 million, the medical sector at $2.069 million, and the chemical and cosmetics sector at $1.546 million.

The report indicated that other exports focused on the plastics and rubber, construction, packaging and paper, and engineering and electrical industries.

ICC Chairman Hani Abu Hassan noted Al-Hassan Industrial Estate accounted for nearly 95 percent of Irbid’s total exports, with Cyber City contributing more than 4%.

Abu Hassan attributed the 7.3 percent decline in the value of certificates of origin to lower exports from the leather and textile sector and reduced exports under Arab, European, and American trade agreements.
