Madaba, July 1 (Petra) – Mayor of Greater Madaba Municipality (GMM), Aref Rawajeeh, said the municipality has received a €2.5 million grant from the European Union to improve the city’s environmental situation and establish environmental projects.
During a meeting with a number of journalists in Madaba governorate on Tuesday, he noted the grant will enhance environmental projects, mainly integrated projects for water, energy, environment, and resource management.
These projects, he stated, will be implemented in direct cooperation and coordination with the Royal Scientific Society (RSS) in Jordan.
Reviewing the GMM’s achievements since 2022, he indicated that the municipality’s budgets are “deficit-free” and have witnessed a “steady” increase, reaching JD15 million this year.
Over the past period, he said the municipality’s projects have focused on implementing asphalt mixtures, establishing roundabouts and planting trees.
