Amman, July 1 (Petra) – The Jordan Armed Forces–Arab Army announced on Tuesday that its Northern Military Zone successfully thwarted a significant drug smuggling attempt within its area of responsibility.
A military source said that Border Guard units, in coordination with the Military Security Directorate, intercepted a group of smugglers attempting to illegally transport large quantities of narcotics.
The source explained that the suspects were detected through surveillance, prompting a rapid response by quick reaction patrols. Engagement rules were applied, leading to the arrest of the smugglers and the seizure of the illicit substances, which were handed over to the competent authorities.
The Jordan Armed Forces reaffirmed their commitment to employing all available resources to prevent narcotics from reaching Jordanian communities and to safeguard the kingdom’s security and stability.
