Amman, July 2 (Petra) – The Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) has foiled several attempts to smuggle significant quantities of narcotic pills and conducted multiple raids on drug dealers across the Kingdom, resulting in the arrest of 17 individuals, including one classified as dangerous, according to a statement on Wednesday by the Public Security Directorate (PSD).

The spokesperson indicated that AND personnel handled several specific operations over recent days, including three major smuggling cases.

In the first incident, coordinated efforts with Jordanian Customs and security services at the Jaber border crossing led to the seizure of 100,000 narcotic pills from an individual attempting to bring the substances into the Kingdom. The suspect was arrested.

The second case saw the confiscation of 90,000 narcotic pills concealed inside tobacco packages, resulting in the arrest of two suspects.

In the third case, authorities discovered 15,000 narcotic pills hidden within women’s clothing aboard a bus arriving through a border crossing.

Additional operations targeted drug dealers and promoters. In one prominent case, AND teams tracked suspects transporting narcotics on the Desert Highway, arresting two individuals and seizing 105 hashish tablets and 23,000 narcotic pills from their vehicle.

In Ain al-Basha, a drug dealer was apprehended with 76 hashish tablets in his possession, while another dealer was arrested in Zarqa Governorate with seven hashish tablets.

In the capital, intelligence efforts led to locating a wanted and dangerous individual hiding on a farm south of Amman. A raid resulted in the arrest of the suspect and four accomplices, along with the seizure of quantities of cocaine and crystal meth.

In northern Badia, security forces conducted a campaign targeting suspected individuals, dealers, and wanted persons for drug-related offenses, arresting four individuals.
