Irbid, July 2 (Petra) – Director of the Al-Kourah Department Awqaf Directorate, Khaled Bani Yaseen, said that 3,500 boys and girls have enrolled in summer Quran memorization and Islamic studies courses organized by the directorate this year, including 1,600 male and 1,900 female students.

Speaking to the Jordan News Agency (Petra) on Wednesday, Bani Yaseen noted that the directorate has prepared 107 summer centers 57 for boys and 50 for girls across various areas within its jurisdiction.

Al-Kourah Department is one of Irbid Governorate departments and is located in northern Jordan.

He confirmed that all preparations have been completed to launch the summer center activities, which will run until August 15 under the theme “Hand in Hand, We Protect Future Generations from Drugs.” The program aligns with the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs’ philosophy of building a secure and stable society and protecting youth from drug abuse, integrating educational approaches and lessons rooted in the Quran, which promotes moral development and ethical conduct.

Bani Yaseen emphasized that the ministry aims to engage children in meaningful activities through Quran memorization and recitation, helping to develop their skills, shape their characters, and reinforce their adherence to Islamic values and ethics.

He added that the summer program’s supervisory committee has ensured the selection of highly qualified teaching staff with backgrounds in Sharia studies, specialized training, and certification in Quran recitation and Tajweed.

The curriculum includes Quran reading and memorization, interpretation, Hadith, the Prophet’s biography, Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), stories of the prophets, Islamic manners and ethics, and national culture, in addition to various extracurricular activities.
