Amman, July 7 (Petra) — The Eastern Military Zone, at dawn on Monday, thwarted an attempt to smuggle narcotic substances using remotely controlled balloons along the border within its area of responsibility.
A military source at the Jordanian Armed Forces-Arab Army confirmed that the operation, conducted in coordination with security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, led to the successful downing of the balloons within Jordanian territory.
Upon inspection, the balloons were found to be equipped with basic remote guidance systems and loaded with illicit substances. The seized materials were handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation.
The Jordanian Armed Forces reiterated their ongoing commitment to protecting the Kingdom’s borders, using every available resource to combat all forms of smuggling and infiltration.
