of COMEX 2025 Unveiled

Muscat,
8 Jul (ONA) – The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information
Technology has unveiled the details of COMEX 2025, which will be held at Oman
Convention and Exhibition Centre during 7-10 September 2025, with the
participation of over 300 local and international companies. The exhibition
will serve as a platform for digital investment.

This
was announced during a press conference held by the ministry in Muscat today,
in collaboration with the Arabian Research Bureau, market research and data
analytics firm, where the agenda, themes, and key highlights of this year’s
edition were presented.

Dr.
Ali Amir Al Shithani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport,
Communications and Information Technology for Communications and IT, stated that
the ministry aims to position COMEX as a platform for promoting direct
investment opportunities in the communications and IT sector, supporting tech
startups, showcasing their products, enhancing local content, and fostering
collaboration between the public and private sectors as well as international
partnerships. He emphasized that the exhibition serves as a gathering point for
all stakeholders in advancing the digital economy.

He
affirmed that COMEX 2025 will witness significant participation from local and
international companies, featuring multiple pavilions, sections, and diverse
activities. The ministry will have a dedicated pavilion highlighting its
initiatives and projects, most of which fall under the National Digital Economy
Programme, he added.

He
explained that the ministry will organize a series of sideline events and
workshops focusing on digital investment, e-gaming, digital tourism, and
creative content production, targeting companies, investors, and startups in
the field. Additionally, the Investment and Local Products Forum for
Cybersecurity 2025 will be held to spotlight initiatives and achievements in
cybersecurity, empowering Omani youth and startups to develop innovative
solutions to cyber challenges while leveraging international expertise.

The
Undersecretary added that the ministry will also host the Artificial
Intelligence and Quantum Computing Forum, aimed at raising awareness of AI and
quantum computing, stimulating research and industrial partnerships between
academic institutions and companies, and highlighting practical applications of
quantum AI across various sectors. The forum will also contribute to developing
skills in these advanced fields and produce actionable recommendations.
Furthermore, a hackathon will be organized to develop innovative solutions for
cybersecurity challenges.

He
noted that COMEX 2024 successfully achieved its objectives as a marketing and
investment hub, fostering connections between companies and investors. The
event saw the signing of 60 agreements and MoUs worth over RO 85 million,
marking a 112% increase compared to the 2023 edition. The accompanying events
included 60 workshops, 25 startup-focused activities and participation from 100
experts and specialists in technology and innovation. The exhibition attracted
350 participating entities and over 80,000 visitors.

Meanwhile.
Dr. Al Shithani highlighted that Oman’s communications and IT sector grew by
10.6% in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period in 2024.
Local investments in artificial intelligence reached approximately RO 60
million by the end of last year, with ongoing initiatives under the National AI
and Advanced Technologies Programme, he added.

COMEX
2025 will feature a Digital Investment Corner, providing a specialized
environment for investment opportunities in IT and communications. The corner
aims to promote tech investments by attracting local and international
investors, positioning Oman as a regional hub for digital investment
opportunities.

This
year’s exhibition will also include a Startup Pavilion, offering startups an
investment-friendly environment through specialized workshops on venture
capital, best practices in startup development and success stories.

During
the press conference, a visual presentation showcased the exhibition’s key
sections, including the International Delegations Pavilion, Space Technology,
Renewable and Sustainable Energy, Smart Cities, Health Technologies and other
advanced technical fields.
