Amman, July 10 (Petra) – The foreign ministry said on Thursday it is following up on the detention of four Jordanian students in Russia over allegedly using forged academic documents.
Ministry spokesperson Sufian Qudah said the students were arrested after obtaining fake university documents from a non-Jordanian individual based in Russia, according to preliminary information.
Russian authorities informed the Jordanian embassy in Moscow that the individual responsible for producing the forged documents has been arrested, Qudah said in a statement.
He added that the case remains under investigation and that the ministry, through its operations centre and embassy, is in contact with the students’ families and is closely monitoring the situation.
