Irbid, JICA Discuss Expanding Environmental Activities in Local Schools

Irbid, July 14 (Petra) — Acting Director of Education for Qasabet Irbid District, Huda Shatnawi, met on Monday with a delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to explore ways to enhance cooperation in implementing environmental activities in the district’s schools.

The delegation included JICA volunteer coordinator Kazuhisa Norimatsu and JICA Jordan Office representative Sawsan Haddad, with the meeting attended by the head of the activities department at the directorate, Ali Shiyab.

Shatnawi highlighted that cooperation with JICA has helped implement impactful environmental and awareness initiatives in schools, positively influencing students’ behavior and environmental awareness. She stressed the importance of maintaining and expanding this collaboration to reach as many schools as possible.

For his part, Norimatsu affirmed JICA’s commitment to continue supporting the directorate in promoting environmental initiatives and fostering a culture of sustainability among students.

Haddad expressed her appreciation for the warm reception and reiterated JICA’s commitment to supporting Jordanian schools through joint programs and projects that align with education sector priorities.
