Border Forces Foil Two Drug Smuggling Attempts Along Eastern Front

Amman, July 16 (Petra) — Border forces intercepted two separate attempts to smuggle large quantities of narcotics across the eastern border late Tuesday, according to a statement issued by the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces – Arab Army.

The statement said Border Guard units operating in the Eastern Military Zone, in coordination with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, detected two groups of smugglers attempting to cross into the Kingdom from different locations using unauthorized routes. Rapid reaction patrols were immediately deployed, and rules of engagement were enforced, forcing the smugglers to retreat into Syrian territory.

A subsequent search and sweep operation resulted in the seizure of significant quantities of illegal drugs, which were transferred to the competent authorities for further investigation.

The Armed Forces reaffirmed their continued commitment to combating all forms of smuggling and infiltration, stressing that they will deploy all available resources to safeguard the Kingdom’s borders and maintain national security and stability.
