Gaza Strip, July 21 (Petra) – Israeli occupation forces on Monday arrested Dr. Marwan al-Hummas, director of Abu Yousef al-Najjar Hospital in Rafah, seizing him in front of a field hospital of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in the southern Gaza Strip, according to Palestinian sources.
An Israeli special force opened fire on an ambulance accompanying Dr. al-Hummas, wounding the driver and arresting the hospital director, the sources said.
It came as Israeli forces ramped up attacks on medical workers and health facilities in Gaza, which are supposed to have protection under international conventions.
