US Dollar Declines Against Yen after Trump Announces Trade Deal with JapanSingapore, 23 Jul (ONA) — The US dollar declined today against the Japanese yen, following an announcement by US President Donald Trump of a trade agreement with Japan ahead of an imminent tariff deadline.
President Trump said that the agreement includes a $550 billion investment by Japan in the United States, and a 15% tariff on Japanese exports to the US.
The US dollar index, which measures the currency’s performance against six other major currencies, dropped by 0.4% to 97.423 points.
The dollar also fell slightly against the Japanese yen in early trading, declining by 0.05% to 146.65 yen, after dropping 0.5% in the previous session.
Meanwhile, the euro edged down by 0.1% to $1.1745, while the British pound remained relatively unchanged at $1.35285.— Ends/Khalid
