Occupied Jerusalem, July 23 (Petra) – Ministers in Israel’s war cabinet, many from the ruling coalition and Knesset members, on Wednesday signed a document for restoration of Jewish presence at Joseph’s Tomb in the city of Nablus in the north of the occupied West Bank.
It came 25 years after the Israeli army withdrew from the site at the start of the second Palestinian uprising or intifada.
Yedioth Ahronoth daily reported that the document was signed by 62 ministers and MKs, led by Knesset member Zvi Sukkot from the Religious Zionism Party and Yossi Dagan, the far-right head of the Israeli settler organization the Shomron Regional Council.
Representatives of the military are expected to present a plan tomorrow for a permanent Jewish presence at the Nablus site.
