Amman, July 23 (Petra) -Director of Education Department at Ministry of Education, Dr. Ahmed Masa’fa, said the ministry seeks to provide a range of educational services and develop learning plans and programs aimed at providing a “safe” school environment free of violence and abuse nationwide.

The remarks came during a meeting on Wednesday with a delegation of Algerian security officers, who is visiting the Kingdom to learn about Jordan’s experience in protecting children from violence and bullying.

During the meeting, which was attended by UNICEF Representative Suzanne Kesht, Masa’fa said the ministry’s educational guidance vision aims to implement programs for build students’ personalities and enehnace their necessary skills to face life’s demands “with confidence and competence.”

Lauding the “deep-rooted, brotherly” bilateral relations in various fields, Masa’fa expressed the ministry’s “readiness” to enhance joint cooperation and benefit from mutual expertise in this field.

Talal Abu Elim, Director of Educational Guidance and Counseling Directorate said the ministry has implemented a package of measures to protect students from violence and abuse phenomena.

These steps, he noted, include developing a preventative guideline and establishing a hotline to report abuse cases.

Additionally, he stated the ministry has developed school-based codes of conduct, reviewed student discipline instructions and developed a school ethical charter.

Kesht, in turn, expressed her appreciation for the existing partnership between the Ministry and UNICEF, particularly aimed to protect children from violence and abuse incidents.

The Algerian delegates stressed their keenness to strengthen the brotherly ties in various fields and benefit from Jordan’s expertise, mainly programs to protect children from violence and bullying.
