Exchange Rate Index of Omani Rial Rises by End of May

Muscat,
27 Jul (ONA) — The effective exchange rate index of the Omani Rial rose by
1.3 percent to 119.1 points by the end of May 2025, compared to 117.6 points
during the same period last year.

Preliminary
data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed
significant growth in liquidity and lending indicators in the Sultanate of Oman
by the end of May 2025.

Local
liquidity (M2) recorded a growth of 6.9 percent, reaching RO 25.376 billion by
the end of May 2025, compared to RO 23.7307 billion in the same period of 2024.

In
contrast, currency issued saw a slight decrease of 0.8 percent, reaching RO 1.6142
billion by the end of May 2025, compared to RO 1.6267 billion during the same
period of 2024.

Meanwhile,
narrow money supply (M1) increased by 13.9 percent, reaching RO 7.1483 billion,
compared to RO 6.2751 billion by the end of May last year.

The
total loans and financing provided by commercial banks and Islamic windows
amounted to RO 33.5629 billion, an 8 percent increase compared to the end of
May 2024, when it was RO 31.0821 billion.
