Amman, Aug. 5 (Petra) — The Water Authority of Jordan, along with Miyahuna, Aqaba Water, and Yarmouk Water companies, signed a memorandum of understanding to apply the Technical Sustainable Management System (TSM Jordan) in wastewater treatment plants across the Kingdom.
The Ministry of Water and Irrigation said Tuesday that the agreement is part of national efforts to improve the operation and maintenance efficiency of treatment plants, ensure compliance with technical and environmental standards, and enhance institutional capacity through training, certification, and specialized technical inspections.
Under the MoU, the Water Authority will organize regular training programs to qualify certified technical inspectors and accredit plants that meet the system’s requirements. Water companies will provide the technical support needed to implement and expand the system in the future.
Water Authority Secretary-General Sufian Batayneh said during the signing ceremony, attended by representatives of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and company directors, that the TSM system directly contributes to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 6 on water and sanitation.
He added that the MoU marks a significant step forward in managing and operating wastewater treatment plants, strengthening technical governance and transparency in this vital sector.
